Lost in Wonder

There’s a sweeping trend online at the moment for sentimental stories; you know the kind? They usually whisk you off to a video; the title will tell you that you’re going to be amazed, your life will be changed, and you will be awestruck and filled with wonder as an unknown person wows the whole internet. And you’ll watch something sentimental for thirty seconds then get bored and go on with your day. Put on Christ

With Hollywood’s award season in full swing there is one massively popular film from last year that’s largely unrepresented in the nominations; Skyfall, the most recent James Bond film, may not be recognised by the Academy, but it’s still playing in some cinemas four months after it’s release. I used to spend time as a vector illustrator and I particularly remember an illustration of the model, Iman, wearing a necklace from De Beers. Iman is a natural beauty, but the necklace brought out something more and somehow increased and highlighted that. That’s the thing with...

Perfecting A Masterpiece

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” – Ephesians 2:10, NLT If there is one strand running through all of the great artists it is the pursuit of perfection. They desire to produce the finest piece of work they can, their masterpiece, their magnum opus, the pièce de résistance. Michelangelo took four years to paint the Sistine chapel and then, much later in life, after Rome was sacked, he returned and spent six further years adding a whole wall to the...
